We are looking for a mature, reliable person to join our staff to serve as Operations Manager of our large, active horse farm. We have a large barn with 50 stalls, various outbuildings, all of which sits on approximately 70 rolling green acres. The Operations Manager- -Works directly with the Owner to ensure smooth daily operations of the farm -Works with barn staff and ensures daily operations of the farm run smoothly -Works well with the boarder clients and the daily lesson riders and visitors to the farm. -Works well with the vendors coming to the farm. Duties include but not limited to: -Daily horse turn in and out with inspection -Feed -Muck/bed stall -Oversight of the boarding and lesson horse population. -Receiving, storing, tracking of grain inventory. -Operating typical farm equipment Applicant must: -Be able to lift 50 pounds -Identify basic horse illnesses and safety concerns -Work well with a team -Have own transportation and arrive/work during inclement weather -Work partial weekends and be willing to switch shifts to ensure barn staff coverage
ABOUT US We are a family-friendly, no drama h/j barn. We have a large lesson clientele along with an IEA team, and 30 boarders. Staff works well together as a team with systems in place to make the work life easier on each other. Our barn is a clean, organized, horse-focused farm. Ops Manager would work the barn 3 days a week doing typical barn chores and one day in house working on small projects such as shopping for supplies, organizing tack room and helping keep the general welfare of the horses and property happy and safe.
Starting salary is $20.00 per hour. Holiday pay for worked holidays. One week vacation after 6 months. Barn is located in Lorton, VA with easy access off Rt 1 and 95. Equestrian Employer Details
Meadowood Stables seeks a qualified instructor to teach at our busy and growing barn. We offer private, semiprivate English riding lessons with no more than 4 people in a lesson. No large group lessons here! Our program includes full care of the horse including haltering/leading, grooming/tack. We teach beginners to advanced riders from ages 8-80. This position is currently for weekday evenings and a few weekend hours. Hours can increase to the capable individual who can participate in other activities such as birthday parties, equine education classes and summer camps. Ideal candidate will be: organized, encouraging of the riders, present themselves professionally, follow instructions and be a self-starter.
Instructor must be experienced with beginner riders through advanced. Candidate will work well within our team of instructors, be suitable to work with the public and our whole barn family.
