Equine Caretaker
Beautifully-maintained private residence and animal sanctuary 15 minutes outside of Woodstock, NY is looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and responsible person to provide all daily essential care for five beloved miniature horses. While the primary focus and responsibility of this role is horse care, there may be additional animals to care for as needed, including dogs, a cat, parakeets, chickens, turkeys, peacocks, pigeons, rabbits, goats, and potbelly pigs.
Responsibilities include: Preparing and feeding hay and grain, cleaning stalls and paddocks, daily grooming and monitoring overall signs of health, and daily hand walking
Assisting with veterinarian and farrier appointments as needed. Ability to lift no more than 40 pounds.
Qualifications/The ideal candidate: Strong equine background, experience handling equines of varying temperaments is a prerequisite for this position. Additional farm animal knowledge is a plus!
Organized, detail-oriented, flexible, polite, and positive, possess a strong work ethic, love for animals, and a willingness to learn. This position is best suited for someone who is self-directed and proactive in maintaining a meticulous barn. Willing to work weekends and holidays. Experience driving a truck and trailer is preferred but not critical.
This is a year-round position, in all weather conditions. Must have reliable all-weather transportation and a Driver's License. Currently seeking to fill a week/weekend position, 8 hours per day from 8 AM to 4 PM. Health insurance and paid time-off available after a trial period.

Requirements
The job will require availability on most holidays, weekends and some evenings for animal emergencies. There is a set schedule in the animal care routine, but this is a dynamic role, and things can change quickly. Thus, flexibility is critical to the role.
