Job Description: Barn Manager Position Overview Highland Hill Farm seeks an experienced, hands-on Barn Manager to oversee daily operations of our equine facility. Key Responsibilities
Equine Care: Monitor horse health and soundness daily. Administer oral, topical, and IM medications. Perform basic first aid. Schedule and assist veterinarians, farriers, and specialists while maintaining precise health records.
Nutrition: Execute strict feed, hay, and supplement protocols tailored to each horse. Monitor, order, and stock feed, hay, bedding, and medical supplies.
Facility Operations: Maintain immaculate barn cleanliness. Oversee daily mucking, stall cleaning, and turnout schedules. Inspect fences, arenas, and equipment daily for hazards; coordinate repairs.
Staff Leadership: Hire, train, schedule, and supervise assistant caretakers and weekend staff. Foster a collaborative, safe, and respectful team environment.
Qualifications
3–5 years of progressive equine stable management experience.
1–2 years of experience leading, training, and scheduling staff.
Advanced knowledge of equine behavior, medical conditions, and biosecurity.
Ability to perform heavy physical labor in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
Strong organizational skills; calm and decisive during medical emergencies.
Valid driver’s license (trailer driving experience preferred).
