Ranch Manager Duties
The Ranch Manager is responsible for the daily care, safety, and operation of the ranch. Duties include feeding, watering, turnout, stall and paddock cleaning, monitoring animal health, maintaining clean barns and pastures, and ensuring all animals receive consistent care.
The Ranch Manager oversees daily ranch chores, assigns tasks to staff and volunteers, checks work quality, and makes sure routines are completed safely and on time. This role requires hands-on work, clear communication, and the ability to lead by example.
Additional duties include coordinating vet and farrier appointments, tracking feed and supplies, reporting maintenance needs, checking fences, gates, waterers, and equipment, and helping with basic repairs and ranch projects.
The Ranch Manager must be able to recognize animal health or safety concerns, respond calmly to emergencies, follow ranch protocols, and communicate issues promptly to leadership.
This position requires reliable attendance, strong horse-handling skills, physical stamina, attention to detail, and the willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Requirements
