Equine Work Experience
I have been around horses all my life. I grew up in Florida and the barn where I rode had everything from newborns to older horses, this is where I learned the most. I was able to work with weanlings and was able to learn how to properly lead a stallion. When I was living in North Carolina I worked as a stable hand. After this experience, I began working at an AA rated show barn. I was able to work with some top-rated show horses and some horses that had not yet started their careers. In October of 2017 I was able to take a clinic with Jimmy Anderson, a natural horsemanship trainer from Canada. This clinic really taught me how to apply pressure and when to release the pressure as well as work with all different types of horses. In 2018 I graduated from the College of Southern Idaho’s AA in Equine Studies. From October 2018 until March 2020 I worked at a dressage barn as well as lived on a small breeding farm.
Type of Ride Work
I was originally trained as a hunter. In 2017 I worked at a guest ranch, I started riding guest horses that needed more hours as well as the wrangler horses. I had to make it through the advanced test, a test for trot and lope, I passed the test without stirrups. In 2017 I did a horsemanship clinic with Jimmy Anderson. I rode a horse named Peaches that had been abused by a previous owner. By the end of this clinic, we had her desensitized to things that her owner never thought possible.
