The University of Lynchburg, a private regional university, located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia is seeking a full-time Equestrian Facility Staff Member.

Duties include aspects of general horse care such as cleaning of the barn, mucking stalls, daily restocking and transport of hay and bedding (lifting and transport of up to 50 pounds), watering, cleaning paddocks, assisting with the vet and farrier as needed and basic first aid. Additionally assistance with mowing, lawn care or other farm maintenance as needed. 40 hours per week, Schedule will include at least one weekend day.

Requirements

Lifting and transporting of up to 50 lbs. Willingness to work outside as duties require, ie moving hay, shavings, dumping manure and landscaping Work in all types of weather Prior related experience working with and handling horses Ability to treat minor injuries, and knowledge of general equine first aid. Ability to interact successfully with other employees Excellent communication skills including interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team
