The Head Riding Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality horseback riding instruction to youth and adult riders participating in Work to Ride's lesson program. This position focuses on teaching safe horsemanship, developing rider's foundational English riding skills, and providing exceptional lesson experience. The Head Riding Instructor works collaboratively with organizational leadership, the barn manager, and other staff to ensure horses are appropriately utilized and lessons are conducted safely and professionally.

Key Responsibilities • Teach group riding lessons for riders of all ages and skill levels. • Provide instruction in safe horsemanship, equitation, and riding fundamentals. • Deliver constructive feedback that supports rider development and confidence. • Maintain a safe, positive, and professional learning environment. • Record lesson attendance on the same day each lesson is conducted. • Verify that participants are current on lesson payments prior to each lesson. • Support student participation in horse shows, clinics, and other equestrian activities as assigned. • School horses assigned to the lesson program to maintain their fitness, responsiveness, and suitability for riders. • Coordinate all schooling schedules and horse exercise plans with the Barn Manager and leadership. • Assist in maintaining the grooming, presentation, and overall condition of lesson horses. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe teaching environment. • Ensure lesson tack and equipment are clean, safe, and properly fitted. • Keep lesson tack rooms organized.
