New Canaan Mounted Troop is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Riding Instructor to join our team. NCMT is a nonprofit equestrian center serving riders of all ages and abilities through our Horsemanship Program, Therapeutic Riding Program, Summer Camp, and Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) teams.

Responsibilities:

• Teach group and private riding lessons to children, teens, and adults
• Develop riders' horsemanship skills both on and off the horse
• Communicate professionally with students, parents, staff, and volunteers
• Supervise proper tacking, untacking, and horse care
• Riding school horses for exercise and training
• Ensure the safety of riders, volunteers, and horses at all times
• Participate in special events, horse shows, camps, and educational programs as needed

Qualifications

• Strong background in hunter/jumper riding instruction
• Experience teaching riders of varying ages and skill levels
• Solid horsemanship and horse management skills
• Experience with IEA teams, therapeutic riding, and/or nonprofit equestrian programs is a plus

Schedule Hours are flexible and will be tailored to the successful candidate. During the school year, lessons are taught primarily after school on weekdays, with weekend lessons typically scheduled between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Additional teaching opportunities may be available through camps, clinics, horse shows, and other special events.

Compensation Competitive hourly compensation based on experience and qualifications. Benefits available for the right candidate.
